Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar on Thursday said his party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had been used for making governments in past and now again efforts were on to misuse it for breaking the government. MQM would make decisions in the interest of the city, he said.

The city mayor came up with this statement days after the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had at a public rally offered MQM partnership in the Sindh government on the condition that it quits Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led coalition Government in the Federation.

"Political statement is not enough. The provincial government first should do something for this mega city." he said. We have not rejected the offer of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. We are ready for cooperation in the larger interest of the province; however, the provincial government has to remove our concerns first.

It has to take decision on the devolution of resources and powers to the grassroots level in accordance with the SLGA. Only after then our party would consider as what to do. He expressed these views while speaking in a programme held in Korangi on the occasion of handing over of donation of Rs9.4million worth school furniture by an NGO Duokon to eight schools of Korangi Zone.

The donations include the teacher's chairs, table, book shelf, laboratory shelf, three types of student's desk and other items. Mayor Karachi said that the people of Sindh were presently looking towards the two parties in government. MQM will make the decision according to the interest of the people.

He thanked Duokon for donating the furniture. Mayor asked the industrialist of Korangi zone to adopt the schools. President of Korangi association of trade and industry Junaid Taqi said education should be focused more. Duokon was working well in this sector.
