Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Sirajul Haq while criticizing the government has said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led federal government's inability has landed the national institutions into an embarrassing situation.

Talking to the media persons here on Thursday, he added the national institutions are in a state of clash which has created unrest among the masses who are already burdened with massive inflation and unemployment by the ruling elite.

He said a common man is unable to make his both ends meet in prevailing circumstances. He said ill-planned and International Monetary Fund-dictated economic policies have made the life miserable for the people. As around seven million people went below the poverty line in 2019, the JI emir expressed fear that economy would further suffer in 2020, resulting in increasing poverty, inflation and unemployment.

Expressing concern over the plight of farmers, he said there are complaints that owners of different sugar mills are either not purchasing sugarcane from growers or are acquiring it at cheap rates. He called for addressing the problems facing the farmers.

Meanwhile, JI Shoora in a three-day session passed a resolution expressing concern over the rising problems of the people due to worsening state of the economy. According to a statement issued here, the JI top executive body held the government responsible for making the life of common man miserable and called for addressing the issue on urgent basis.

It said the government not only badly failed to fix the fragile economy of the country after coming into power in August 2018, it further worsened the situation. The resolution stated that thousands of people have lost jobs and inflation has gone up record high due to flawed economic policies. It said the IMF has virtually taken over the state affairs, enslaving the millions of Pakistanis to the lending agency.

The government was asked to introduce interest-free economy if it really wants to put the country on the path of development. It said only a dedicated and honest leadership can bring the country out of prevailing crisis. The JI vowed to introduce reforms and bring prosperity in the country if voted to power.
