The Supreme Court on Wednesday expressing concern over delay in decision on cases pending before the Accountability Court directed National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to file detailed report regarding the matter.

A three-member bench, headed by Justice Mushir Alam, was hearing the bail application of Allah Dino Khan Bahyo. The bench directed the NAB to submit report explaining the reasons for delay in finalizing the cases.

Dino's lawyer informed that his client was ready to deposit half of the amount. He requested the court to grant bail, and told that Dino had been in NAB custody for the last one year. However, Justice Mushir declined bail saying let first examine the record to know the reasons for delay.

The NAB Karachi in August 2018 had arrested accused Allah Dino Bhayo for bungling related to Shikarpur uplift schemes.

On the basis of an STR forwarded by Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU), an inquiry was authorized by a competent authority against Allah Dino Bhayo and others.

The STR was generated on the basis of unusual transactions in the account of accused persons by different contractors of Shikarpur.

The accused person in connivance with contractors and representatives of the Works & Services Department deposited huge amount in his account. The accused caused loss of Rs 55 million to the national exchequer. The accused also failed to provide any lawful justification of the amount deposited in his account.

The apex court in April last year had dismissed bail of Allah Dino Khan Bhayo over withdrawal of the petition. However, the court directed the accountability court for early completion of the trial.

The court observed that Allah Dino failed to provide justification of Rs 4 million deposited in his account. The NAB had alleged the accused had received illegal commission against various contracts. The case was adjourned for an indefinite period.
