(Karachi) Germany’s Minister of State of the Federal Foreign Office Niels Annen called on Army Chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday.

A statement issued by Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) stated that during the meeting, issues of mutual interest, regional security and measures to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed.

The German state minister appreciated Pakistan's role for ensuring peace and stability in the region.

Earlier, Annen visited Foreign Office and met Parliamentary Secretary Andaleeb Abbas.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction at the current trajectory of bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation in political, economic, trade, investment and educational sectors.

Regarding the Middle East situation, Abbas informed the German minister that Pakistan views the situation with concern.

She said Pakistan supports the peace process and there should be immediate de-escalation and concerted efforts to prevent conflict.
