The Karachi Port handled 171,209 tonnes of cargo comprising 107,001 tonnes of import cargo and 64,208 tonnes of export cargo including 3,637 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 107,001 tonnes comprised of 64,319 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,113 tonnes of fertilizer and 38,569 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 64,208 tonnes comprised of 29,838 tonnes of containerised cargo; 170 tonnes of bulk cargo; 34,200 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 3,637 containers comprising of 1,674 containers of import and 1,963 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 524 of 20's and 386 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 189 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 241 of 20's and 327 of 40's loaded containers while 156 of 20's and 456 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Northern Dedication, York, OOCL Chicago, MT Karachi and Almar carrying containers, tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Diyala, CSCL Sydney, Bay Spirit, MT Shalamar, Sea Ambition and Glovis Maria carrying containers, tankers and petcock respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 153,031 tonnes comprising 120,693 tonnes of import cargo and 32,338 tonnes of export cargo including 1,737 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 120,693 tonnes includes 51,250 tonnes of LNG; 43,819 tonnes of coal; 8,369 tonnes of palm oil; 13,931 tonnes of chemical; 2,659 tonnes of soyabean and 665 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 32,338 tonnes includes 32,338 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,737 containers comprising of 35 containers import and 1,702 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were two ships namely GSL Eleni and Chemroad Sea carrying containers and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely Ginga Lion carrying chemical is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of seven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, rice, phosphoric acid and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Zhen Hua-17, HTK Confidence, Captain Pegglizos, Pedhoulas Cherry, Lanna Pegglizox, Happy Osprey, NH Siri, Pacific Endeavour and Chemroad Dita carrying containers, coal, rice, soyabean, canola, chemical, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. MSC Joanna, MSC Nova, Zhen Hua-17, HTK Confidence, Pedhoulas Cherry and Pacific Endeavour carrying containers, coal, canola and palm oil oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Fertilizer Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.

There was three ships namely MSC Nova carrying containers due to arrive on Monday, while two more ships namely MSC Tomoko and Maersk Detroit carrying containers are due to arrive on Tuesday.
