COAS rejects Indian military’s remarks against Pakistan, terms it ‘irresponsible rhetoric’

• Pakistan is one of the lead participants with significant contributions towards peace and stability efforts in the region: Bajwa.
• COAS says armed forces will continue to play positive role for regional peace without compromising national security and defend of motherland at whatever cost.
• The Corps Commanders’ Conference reviewed the geo strategic, regional and national security and discussed internal security, situation along LoC and IoK.

(Karachi) Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has dismissed Indian military leadership’s statement to seize control of Azad Kashmir as a “irresponsible rhetoric with implications on regional peace,” a statement issued by DG ISPR stated on Tuesday.

Presiding over the 228^th Corps Commanders’ Conference at GHQ, the army chief said that the statements of Indian leadership against Pakistan are irresponsible rhetoric with implications on regional peace and stability.

The COAS said, “We shall continue to play our responsible & positive role for regional peace without compromising national security & defend of motherland at whatever cost.”

Bajwa maintained, “Pakistan is one of the lead participants with significant contributions towards peace and stability efforts in the region.”

Meanwhile, the Corps Commanders’ Conference reviewed the geo strategic, regional and national security environment and discussed internal security, situation along borders, Line of Control (LoC) and Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the statement added.

The forum also reviewed evolving security situation in the Middle East with reference to US-Iran stand off and its implications on regional peace and stability.

COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa’s statement comes in wake of Indian Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane’s comments in which he stated that his force will seize control of Azad Kashmir if the Indian government orders.

Earlier in a tweet, the DG ISPR Asif Ghaffor stated, “Statements by Indian COAS to undertake military action across LoC are routine rhetoric for domestic audiences to get out of ongoing internal turmoil. Pakistan Armed Forces are fully prepared to respond to any act of Indian aggression."

Pakistan’s Foreign Office also denounced General Naravane’s statement as reckless, saying: “We reject the new Indian army chief’s irresponsible statement regarding ‘pre-emptive strikes’ across the LoC inside Azad Jammu and Kashmir.” Indian leadership should not be mistaken “about Pakistan’s resolve and readiness to thwart any aggressive Indian move, inside its territory or AJK”, the FO added.
