Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has claimed that Mughalpura dry port will be opened next week for freight operations service from Lahore to Karachi. While addressing a press conference at the Railway headquarters on Saturday, he said that the dry port had been closed for the last six years. He said coal loading and unloading from Faisalabad would also be started from Feb 1.
The minister said that the year 2020 was the year of freight, adding that the current regime had increased the number of freight trains from seven to 15 and the target of 20 freight trains would be achieved during this fiscal year.
