PM Imran due in Lahore today: PML-N sees 'political change' to begin from Punjab
Prime Minister Imran Khan is scheduled to arrive here on Sunday (today) a day-long visit to discuss matters concerning performance and affairs of the PTI-led Punjab government.
During the visit, the premier will meet Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar, Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and cabinet members. The sources claimed that matters concerning issues of allied parties and reservations of 20 disgruntled members of the ruling party would also be discussed.
The PM Imran Khan is also expected to hold a number of meetings during his stay in the provincial capital. Political analysts believe that governance issues in Punjab remained under active discussion in the past. On Saturday, Punjab CM Sardar Usman Buzdar met PTI senior leader Jehangir Khan Tareen and discussed political situation and matters concerning affairs of the PTI-led Punjab government.
During the meeting, both expressed their resolve to continue the journey of development under the leadership of Imran Khan. They said the Punjab government is focusing on resolution of people problems.
Talking to PTI MNA Shaukat Bhatti, MNA Nawab Sher and others, the Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that even the opponents of Imran Khan cannot point figure at his honesty, while Supreme Court has also declared him as Sadiq and Ameen (straightforward and honest).
The Governor was of the view that problems of 70 years cannot be resolved in mere one and half years, however we will fulfill our promise of uprooting the menace of corruption and resolve all other public issues. Transparency and supremacy of the law and the constitution in Pakistan will be ensured at any cost.
He said the government has ensured independent working of all the institutions including NAB (National Accountability Bureau) and FIA and there will be no compromise on elimination of corruption. He said, "It has been more than one and half years of PTI government and no corruption scandal has so far been surfaced against Ministers or any other personality in the government."
On the other hand, the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is looking for the right moment to try and bring down the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led government in the country's biggest province.
The PML-N is holding a meeting of the PML-N Punjab parliamentary party on Monday in which political strategy would be evolved against the PTI-led Punjab government.
Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz had already declared that they were open for talks with 'others', a reference to the ruling coalition partner, the PML-Q. "In-house change is a democratic process," he added. PML-N lawmaker Samiullah Khan claimed that the way the PML-Q had questioned the rising corruption, local body system proposed by the PTI and other matters indicated that it might soon quit the ruling coalition.
