Vice Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences, Prof Mohammed Saeed Quraishy has said that the Institute of Biomedical Sciences has prepared 100 MPhil students in a short span of 9 years who are using their skills abroad and at various institutions to contribute to national development.

Research and innovation is also needed in the postgraduate programme of Biomedical Sciences, he said while addressing as special guest at the event which was organized by the students of the institute at the completion of 100 MPhil theses.

The event was addressed by the Director of IBMS Prof Dr Zeba Haque, and Deputy Director Mohammad Owais while a large number of students teachers Prof Nasir Bhatti, Prof Mazhar, Prof Zia-ul-Islam and Prof Muzaffar were present on the occasion.

Prof Mohammed Saeed Quraishy said that the recent success is an important milestone towards the Institute of Biomedical Sciences' destination; hopefully the Institute is achieving its founding goals.

When it was set up in 2008, the goals for success were not very bright despite setting high goals, but the hard work of teachers and students made the organization more successful than expected. In 2011, the first MPhil student presented his research dissertation.

Director of IBMS Prof Dr Zeba Haque said that 84 of our MPhil students in various fields are contributing to the promotion of medical education in Pakistan while serving in various institutes; however, 14 students are working on projects abroad.
