The Lahore High Court Chief Justice on Monday granted allowed petition of Abdul Rehman Makki, a leader of an outlawed organization Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), and directed the Punjab government to transfer all the cases against him at Lahore.

Earlier, a NAB prosecutor said the Bureau had no objection if the court clubs all the cases before any Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore. The petitioner through his counsel pleaded that in 2019 top 13 leaders of the JuD including its chief Hafiz Saeed have been booked in nearly two dozen cases of alleging terror financing and money laundering.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) had registered 23 cases under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, in five cities of Punjab including Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad and Sargodha. The counsel said the lives of accused were under threat as they had to frequently move from one place to another to face the cases.
