Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Business Community of Faisalabad has expressed satisfaction over the results of their protest movement against increase in energy prices, withdrawal of zero rating facility, imposing 17 percent sales tax and mandatory provision of CNIC on purchase of more than Rs 50,000 and subsequently the visit of Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar to Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) to resolve their genuine issues.

A meeting of the JAC was held in FCCI which was presided by Rana Muhammad Sikandar-e-Azam Khan while Senior Vice President Zafar Iqbal Sarwar, Vice President Bilal Waheed Sheikh, Mian Naeem Ahmad Chairman and Arif Ishan Malik Vice Chairman JAC also attended the meeting in addition to the representative of Anjum-e-Tajran Sikha Group, Allied Group and Supreme Anjuman Tajran. The participants expressed satisfaction over the leadership qualities of Rana Sikandar-e-Azam Khan who has been prudently handling the day to day situation.

President FCCI pointed out that with the consultation of 150 trade organisation, Joint Action Committee was constituted that staged a protest camp and organised a press conference in clock tower. The committee also decided to organise a protest meeting on February 8, and categorically announced that a Wheel Jam strike would also be launched from February 10, if government failed to negotiate with the protesting traders and businessmen.

Rana Sikandar-e-Azam Khan told that Governor Punjab was directed by Prime Minister Imran Khan to visit FCCI and resolved our issues on priority bases. President Chamber said that it was the first victory of our JAC and he was personally thankful to the heads of different trade and business organisations that forged unity and forced government to come on the negotiation table.

He also welcomed the constitution of the committee comprising of local parliamentarians and business leaders to sit together and resolved the issues with mutual consultation. Rana Sikandar-e-Azam Khan told that before negotiating with parliamentarians, a separate meeting will be held in which sector wise problems would be discussed and joint strategy would be evolved to present the same to the parliamentarians.

"We would not only identify the problems but also suggest viable solution to the same," he told and added that business community would not compromise on CNIC, zero rating and energy prices. He clarified that all these facilities were given to the business community during the tenure of Asad Umer when he was finance minister.
