Pakistan summons Indian diplomat to protest over LoC ceasefire violations

• Due to Indian troops' unprovoked firing a 13-year-old Abida Jamal of Fatehpur village, sustained serious injuries.
• This year India has committed 287 ceasefire violations to date.

Pakistan summoned on Saturday a senior diplomat from the High Commission of India to register a protest over the recent ceasefire violation by India across the Line of Control (LoC). 

Indian troops violated the ceasefire by targeting the Nezapir and Rakhchikri Sectors on February 14. Due to Indian troops' unprovoked firing a 13-year-old Abida Jamal of Fatehpur village, sustained serious injuries.

According to a press release by the Foreign Office (FO), Indian forces have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy-caliber mortars and automatic weapons along the LoC and Working Boundary. This year India has committed 287 ceasefire violations to date, the statement read.

The FO statement further said that these violations by India are a threat to 'regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation'. "The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws," the statement said.

Pakistan urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire and instructed them to respect the ceasefire in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
