Foreign funding case: IHC seeks arguments over PTI's plea
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday sought arguments over the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)'s appeal on the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)'s October 10 decision in the foreign funding case. A single member bench of the IHC comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, while hearing the case, asked who has the case right now.
The PTI counsel, Shah Khawar, told the court that presently the case was with the scrutiny committee and in the final stage. A scrutiny committee was formed in March last year to complete an audit of the PTI's sources of funding in one month.
Its mandate was later extended for an indefinite period. Khawar further told the court that he had filed four petitions before the ECP. The Director General (DG) law ECP appeared in person and submitted written reply before the court. The court asked the DG law to engage the counsel till the next hearing. The court will hold next hearing on April 6.
