5 killed, 90 injured over CAA clashes as Trump arrives in New Delhi
- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Trump are set to meet for talks today at a venue located a few miles away from where the clashes occurred.
- Hundreds of people supporting the CAA have been clashing with those opposing it since Sunday
At least five people were killed and more than 90 were injured during the clashes which broke out on Monday and still continue in New Delhi between two groups over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
The clashes have turned even more violent as US President Donald Trump visits Delhi. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Trump are set to meet for talks today at a venue located a few miles away from where the clashes occurred.
Hundreds of people supporting the CAA clashed with those opposing it. The two groups have been clashing since Sunday. The demonstrators set multiple vehicles set on fire, tore down metal barricades as supporters of the new law clashed with opponents.
A video surfaced on social media shows a group of people lying injured on the ground, some of them singing the Indian National Anthem. The Indian security forces are recording them and beating the injured people.

A Reuters witness saw at least one Muslim man and a burqa-clad woman beaten by dozens of pro-law protesters with sticks and iron rods.
