To enroll 250,000 out-of-school children, Punjab government has announced to set up 100 new schools in the provincial capital by April.

This programme will also be expanded to other divisions in near future, said Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar during a meeting with MNAs and MPAs of Lahore and Sahiwal divisions, which held here on Wednesday to discuss their constituency-related problems. The parliamentarians presented their proposals about new schemes.

The meeting also learnt that a mega-development package will be announced for Lahore city while a mother and child hospital will be established in Ganga Ram Hospital with an amount of Rs 7 billion in two years and PIC-II project will also be started in Lahore along with the establishment of an institute of blood diseases.

The CM said that Firdous Market's underpass project has been approved and permission has been granted to construct multi-storey buildings in the city. "Work on Lahore Ring Road Southern Loop-III project is being started soon and work is also being done on the project of developing a new city at the bank of River Ravi. Moreover, the scope of LDA was extended to other districts of Lahore division but it would be limited to Lahore city only," he added.

He regretted that cleanliness arrangements in Lahore are not proper and directed the officials concerned to adopt emergent steps.

He assured the legislators to solve the issue of clean drinking water in the Lahore division, adding that sewerage and cleanliness systems will also be improved. He also assured repair and maintenance of roads in Lahore division.

He also disclosed that the Arazi Center in Warburton will be made functional in two weeks. He directed the official concerned to submit a report about shifting of truck stands and grain market outside the Sheikhupura city, adding that Government Postgraduate Degree College Sheikhupura will be granted the status of university.

The CM made it clear that violation of one-dish and time will not be tolerated in marriage ceremonies and directed to take indiscriminate action against violators as the law is equal for all.
