The Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) and Halal Research Council have planned to organize "Nationwide Awareness Road Show on Halal Industry from Khyber to Karachi" for catering to the rising demand for Halal food in the world due to the coronavirus crisis.

In this regard, the first show will be held in Lahore on 12th March, followed by an informative session on "Coronavirus Magnifies Halal Food Potential in China". PCJCCI President Zark Khan, Senior Vice President Moazzam Ghurki and Chief Executive Officer of Halal Research Council Zubair Mughal also expressed their views on this occasion.

Commenting on the prevailing situation, the PCJCCI President said that the pandemic of coronavirus had opened new vistas of opportunities in Halal food sector besides providing a positive check on wildlife deterioration. Incidentally, in this phase of viral spread, world media highlighted the importance of clean and hygienic food which definitely means "Halal Food", he added.

He said that coronavirus, somehow or the other, had proved that Halal food is the best option to be taken because of its cleanliness and disease-free characteristics and not the least important is the taste and even fragrance. Chinese society has charismatically been transformed into a consumer society where the propensity to save has turned into the propensity to consume.

Moazzam Ghurki said Pakistan possesses full capability to become the hub of Halal food as compared to any other country as it has been proved.

A huge quantity of Halal food, Halal meat, Halal cosmetics, Halal gelatin and Halal bones can be exported from Pakistan.
