The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) arranged an event regarding International Women's Day 2020 at the FPCCI Regional Office to pay tribute to the achievements of women besides highlighting their needs and concerns.
The wife of Punjab Governor, Parveen Sarwar, was chief guest of the event who appreciated the women's role in the economic development of the country and said we are seeing women's role in every walk of life. She said that development could not be achieved without practical participation of women in the economy. She also appreciated the FPCCI office-bearers for organizing such important event to mark International Women's Day 2020.
While appreciating Regional Chairman FPCCI Dr Muhammad Arshad and Vice President Roohi Rizwan for organizing a momentous International Women's Day 2020 event, he said it was encouraging to see corporate sector is working for social sector. FPCCI Vice President and Regional Chairman Dr Muhammad Arshad said the women day celebration is an acknowledgment of women contribution in different fields like politics, media, legal profession, commerce and business, banking, information technology and the armed forces.
FPCCI Vice President Roohi Rizwan stressed the need for encouraging women empowerment in the country. "The Women Day is an historic day that demands to change our attitudes and approach towards gender discrimination," she added. She said the dream of prosperous country cannot be achieved without positive involvement of women in economic activities. She said gender equality is one of the priority areas of human right.
It is a welcome sign to see that women were at forefront in all the sectors including health, education, business, and predicted that by next 15 to 20 years, Pakistan would be ruled by women. In Pakistan, immense talent existed in youth and women who could play a vital role in the progress of the country, she added.
