It is heartening to note that as part of Turkey-Russia deal the two countries will carry out joint patrols in Idlib, the last enclave still in the insurgents' control.
What brightens prospects for peace in Syria is news that no violations had taken place since an agreement came into effect on March 5. Both Turkey and Russia have acted in the larger interest of war-torn Syria. It is quite likely that the protection of innocent civilians and safety of Turkish soldiers will be ensured through the new Turkey-Russia agreement. I fully endorse this newspaper's argument that it advanced through its editorial 'War or peace in Syria?' yesterday. According to it, "A large-scale migration from Idlib, almost all of this to land in Turkey, is the Ankara's prime human concern that warrants prompt notice by the international community, particularly the EU countries which are likely to be the ultimate destination of the migrants."
