A sharp increase in essential food commodities, items including vegetable, pulses, live chicken/meat, sugar, fruits and others was witnessed in retail market, according to survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday.
A considerable decrease in prices of live chicken/meat and others products was witnessed in retail market as available at Rs 146 per kilogramme which was selling Rs 176 per kilogramme in the previous week.
Similarly, a dozen of farm eggs are being sold at Rs 90 against price of Rs 100 per dozen during the last week. Butchers are openly defying official rates and charged consumers with manifold/artificial prices, according to which cow meat is being sold at Rs 400-450 and Rs 470 per kilogramme while mutton beef was available at Rs 1000 per kilogramme in retail market.
However, sugar price was remained unchanged as available at Rs 80-85 per kilogram. Gram flour (baisen) is being sold at Rs 160-170 per kilogramme. Prices of veggies have remained sky-high in local market. According to survey, Karela (bitter gourd) has become costlier in local markets as available at Rs 250-300 per kilogramme. Arvi was priced at Rs 150 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs 120 per kilogramme in previous week.
Potatoes are being sold at Rs 60-70 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs 40 per kilogramme in the local market. Peas are being available at Rs 80-90 per kilogramme. Garlic is being sold at Rs 300-350 per kilogramme, while ginger was available at Rs 400-450 per kilogramme, while onion is being sold at Rs 100 per kilogram which was selling at Rs 70 per kilogramme in the previous week.
Green chili was priced at Rs 200 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs 150 per kilogramme in the previous week. Lemon is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogramme. Price of tomato is stable as available at Rs 40-50 per kilogramme.
Similarly, the capsicum was available at Rs 130 per kilogramme against the rate of Rs 120 per kilogramme in previous week. Carrots are being sold at Rs 60-70 per kilogramme, cauliflower at Rs 70-80 per kilogramme, cabbage at Rs 60 per kilogramme, bringle at Rs 60-70 per kilogramme.
Apple, long and round gourds are being sold within range of Rs 70-80 and Rs 100 per kilogramme in local market, the survey noticed, it added The survey was noticed the prices of food grains (pulses) have remained high side in retail market as no significant increase or decrease was witnessed in the previous week as compared to preceding week.
Dal mash price is being sold at Rs 240 per kilogramme. Likewise, it further witnessed dhoti dal is available at Rs 240 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs-190 per kilogramme in the last week. It added white lobiya is being sold at Rs 200 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 160 per kilogramme. Dal black (chilka) was available at Rs 220 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 180 per kilogramme, while dal green (chilka) priced at Rs 200 per kilogramme against the Rs 170 per kg, showing an increase of Rs 30 per kg.
Similarly, a substantial increase in price of Moonge was noticed in retail market as available Rs 200 per kilogramme, which was selling at Rs 160 per kilogramme. Good quality rice (sela) is being sold at Rs 150 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 140 per kilogramme in the previous week, whereas toota rice brown color is being sold at Rs 80 per kilogramme and white color at Rs 70 per kilogramme.
Chinese red bean is being sold at Rs 190 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 180 per kilogramme while Tajikistani red bean was available at Rs 170 per kilogramme, which was selling at Rs 170 per kilogramme in the last week.
Dal channa is being sold at Rs 180 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs 170 per kilogramme in the previous week. Big size white channa is being available at Rs 140 per kilogramme while small-size white channa priced at Rs 10 per kilogramme. According to the survey, prices of almost all brand and quality of cooking oil and ghee have unchanged in retail market.
Fruits is staple food, which have also complete reached out from purchasing power of common man as apples are being sold at Rs 150-160 per kilogramme, guava at Rs 120 per kilogramme, strawberry at Rs 400 per kilogramme, kinnow at Rs 100-120 per dozen, orange at Rs 140 per dozen, banana was available within range of Rs 60 and 70-80 per dozen.
