Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reports 39 new coronavirus cases

• KP Health and Finance Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra said all those tested showed no symptoms of coronavirus.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) reported on Wednesday 39 new coronavirus cases after 46 people were tested in Mardan.

In a tweet from his official Twitter handle, KP Health and Finance Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra announced that 46 people from Union Council Manga, Mardan were tested for the coronavirus. He further said that out of these, 39 people were infected with the disease.

While, Jhagra added, four samples were rejected. All those tested were asymptomatic, the minister said.

These people who have tested positive belong to the same city which reported its first coronavirus death in Pakistan. The deceased Saadat Khan, 50, returned to Pakistan on March 9 from Saudi Arabia.

On his return, he was thrown a party which was attended by more than 2,000 people.

Later, complaining of cough, fever and breathing issues, Khan visited a district hospital which diagnosed him as a potential coronavirus patient. However, Khan refused to be isolated and continued living with his wife, three sons, two daughters-in-law, three daughters and four grandchildren.

On March 18,  he was moved to an isolation center where he died the same day.
