Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 154,863 tonnes of cargo comprising 119,280 tonnes of import cargo and 35,583 tonnes of export cargo including 7,591 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The Karachi Port handled 154,863 tonnes of cargo comprising 119,280 tonnes of import cargo and 35,583 tonnes of export cargo including 7,591 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargos of 119,280 tonnes comprised of 66,017 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,900 tonnes of rock phosphate; 3,035 tonnes of chemical; 8,528 tonnes of DAP and 32,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 35,583 tonnes comprised of 29,283 tonnes of containerised cargo and 6,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,591 containers comprising of 4,630 containers of import and 2,961 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,490 of 20's and 1,441 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 129 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 791 of 20's and 359 of 40's loaded containers while 122 of 20's and 665 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Carl Schulte, Sea Power and Liana carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Wan Hai-611, Botany Bay, YM Excellence, Carl Schulte, Immortal Gold, MT Karachi, Oriental Protea and KN Forest carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There are three ship namely Immortal Gold, MT Karachi, Oriental Protea carrying oil tanker and chemical respectively expected to sail on Wednesday.
There are three vessels viz. EVA Hong Kong, Pacific Spring and MT Khairpur carrying oil tanker, chemical and mogas respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while three more vessels viz. Thorsky, MOL Grandeur and Cosco Amrica carrying containers respectively are expected to arrive on Thursday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 162,154 tonnes comprising of 137,581 tonnes of import cargo and 24,573 tonnes of export cargo including 3,967 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 137,581 tonnes includes 47,225 tonnes of coal; 8,000 tonnes of palm oil; 585 tonnes of palm kernel; 26,194 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,859 tonnes of LPG and 51,718 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,573 tonnes includes 918 tonnes of project cargo and 23,655 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,967 containers comprising of 2,722 containers import and 1,245 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely Kiel Trader carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three more ships namely New Courage, PGC Periklis and BW Denube carrying general cargo, LPG and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, LPG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine vessels viz. MOL Grandeur, Kota Nekad, Parnassus, Nordic Tian Jin, Gas Amazon, Kharaita, Falcon Royal, Chemranger and Horizon carrying containers, containers, coal, LPG, LNG, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. MOL Grandeur, Parnassos, Aqua Vita Sky and Al-Khairtiyat carrying containers, coal, soyabean and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely Aqua Vita Sky carrying soyabean due to arrive on Wednesday while three more ships namely OOCL Atlanta, Hansa America and Xiamen carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
