Punjab government tightens measures as 12 new cases of virus surface
With the 12 new cases of novel coronavirus, the number of cases in the province of the Punjab has crossed the figure of 335 and the provincial government has tightened the measures aimed at curbing the outbreak of coronavirus.
The partial lockdown across the province has continued and security personnel are performing their duties for the safety of the people. The security personnel are restricting unnecessary movement of citizens.
The total number of coronavirus cases has reached 83 in the provincial metropolis and the spread of virus through local transmission has spread alarm. The carriers of the virus who are yet to be detected are considered as a major cause of concern for the authorities.
Moreover, a woman carrier of coronavirus, who was under treatment at Jinnah Hospital's Isolation Ward, has escaped. The police are in search of that woman. Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar in a telephonic talk has expressed gratitude to CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah for donating N-95 masks to the province.
"The Punjab government is thankful to you for the gesture," Buzdar told Shah. "In this time of need, everyone needs to help each other. Through a united front we can defeat the virus," Buzdar said. He added that they will successfully defeat the pandemic with the help of the people. Murad Ali Shah had said Sindh would keep 200,000 masks out of the 500,000 donated by China and will share the rest with other provinces.
