The Sindh government's decision regarding imposition of temporary ban on congregational Friday prayers at mosques was largely implemented in Karachi.
However, prayers were performed at some mosques located at city's different neighborhoods as people were seen going to and coming from mosques.
A video that went viral on the social media showed a police official in the premises of the New Memon Mosque in Kharadar requesting the people to go back to their homes as the mosque has been closed in compliance with the provincial government's orders.
Meanwhile, open air Friday prayers were held in congregation near Abraha Road in the Naval Colony due to the closure of the mosque.
The Sindh government had announced suspension of congregational prayers at mosques, including Juma prayers, until April 5, to maintain social distancing to arrest the spread of the coronavirus.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that he offered Friday prayer at his home.
Adviser to Sindh chief minister Muratza Wahab said the government had taken the decision after consultation with Ulema from all schools of thought.
