(Karachi) At least two more patients suffering from coronavirus died during the last 24 hours, media reported on Sunday. The total number of deaths by the deadly virus in Karachi has reached three.

Provincial Health Minister Azra Pechuho said that both persons were suffering from Pneumonia and coronavirus symptoms. She added the laboratory reports were received after death of the two patients.

She said that one of the deceased was 70 years old while the other was 83 years of age. She maintained both patients were admitted to Jinnah Hospital and Dow University Hospital Ojha Campus.

Meanwhile, the death toll in Pakistan has increased to 14 while 469 people have so far been tested positive for the virus in Sindh.

Earlier, in a bid to stop spread of virus, Sindh Police launched an application to monitor the movements of citizens during the lockdown in the province.

According to details, the app has been rolled out on the instructions of Sindh Police Chief Mushtaq Mehar. As part of the application, the police enters the CNIC number of a person and the area where he was stopped. The information is then uploaded on the application which becomes accessible to all the units. However, a person is only allowed to travel twice during a day.

The Sindh government has taken strict measures to contain the spread of deadly outbreak. Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah imposed a lockdown in the province and restricted movement of people. The government closed shopping centres, markets and banned public transport from plying roads.

The provincial government also ordered grocery shops to open at 8am and close by 5pm.

So far, 1,526 confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported across the province. Besides, 14 people have died of the virus while 29 have recovered.
