Pakistan's export of gems soared to $3.459 million during July-Feb 2019-20, up by 30.48 percent, official figures say.
Increase in gems export now stands at $808,000 during July-Feb 2019-20 from $2.651 million in July-Feb 2018-19, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows.
Gems export volume also mounted by 2 metric tonnes to 5 metric tonnes during July-Feb 2019-20 from 3 metric tonnes in July-Feb 2018-19.
Down by 48 percent or $173,000 during Feb 2020, the country's export of gems was $188,000 comparing to the precious stones export of $361,000 in Feb 2019.
The country's export of gems was stagnant with just 1 metric tonne in Feb 2020.
Export of jewellery dropped by 20.17 percent or $758,000 to $3 million in July-Feb 2019-20 from $3.758 million in July-Feb 2018-19.
Jewellery export slid by 49 percent or $172,000 to $182,000 in Feb 2020 from $354,000 in Feb 2019.
