Activities at Karachi and Port Qasim Ports
The Karachi Port handled 114,433 tonnes of cargo comprising 96,955 tonnes of import cargo and 17,478 tonnes of export cargo including 8,126 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 96,955 tonnes comprised of 72,578 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,579 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,837 tonnes of chemical; 4,061 tonnes of canola and 3,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 17,478 tonnes comprised of 17,278 tonnes of containerised cargo and 200 tonnes of bulk cargo.
As many as 8,126 containers comprising of 5,045 containers of import and 3,081 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,539 of 20's and 1,740 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 13 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 450 of 20's and 162 of 40's loaded containers while 189 of 20's and 1,059 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Botany Bay, Bomar Rossi and Nordic Pia carrying containers and molasses respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. CMA CGM Ivanhoe, Bomar Rossi, Iliana, Africa Star and Han Xin carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There are three ships namely CMA CGM Ivanhoe, Wan Hai-613 and YM Jupiter carrying containers and chemical respectively expected to sail on Thursday.
There are three vessels viz. MOL Globe, Lavender Ray and Vectis Isle carrying containers, chemical and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday while two more vessels viz. Ginga Cougar and Asl Mercury carrying oil tanker and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.
A cargo volume of 170,649 tonnes comprising of 128,716 tonnes of import cargo and 41,933 tonnes of export cargo including 4,899 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 128,716 tonnes includes 30,208 tonnes of LNG; 16,537 tonnes of coal; 3,500 tonnes of palm oil; 11,000 tonnes of canola; 2,323 tonnes of palm kernel; 14,000 tonnes of chemical and 51,148 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 41,933 tonnes includes 41,933 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,899 containers comprising of 2,692 containers import and 2,207 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There was one ship namely Falcon carrying palm oil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely MOL Globe, Maersk Hartford and Gulf Mist carrying containers and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, canola, chemical, LNG, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as ten vessels viz. MOL Courage, AS Patricia, Calypso-N, Universal Bremen, Bulk Titan, Star Topaz, BW Kobe, Lyric Poet, Serena-R and Sovereign carrying containers, coal, soyabean, cement and gasoline respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three ships viz. Hugo Schulte, Bulk Titan and Serena-R carrying containers, coal and cement respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There was one ship namely MOL Courege carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday while two more ships namely Thorsky and CMA CGM Ivanhoe carrying containers are due to arrive on Friday. There is a container vessel namely AS Patricia due to arrive on Saturday.
