Special flights from Oman to bring Pakistani prisoners on Thursday
- Flights from Muscat will be arriving in Lahore and Karachi on April 16 and April 17 respectively.
Oman will be releasing 350 Pakistani prisoners on Thursday and Friday via special flights.
According to Times of Oman, two special flights have been arranged by the country to repatriate only prisoners. These two flight will not be carrying any other passenger.
Flights from Muscat will be arriving in Lahore and Karachi on April 16 and April 17 respectively. Out of the total Pakistani prisoners released, 146 have been given royal pardon.
"I am extremely grateful to the authorities in Oman for all the support and assistance they have provided in the arrangement of the repatriation of the Pakistani prisoners and detainees. I am hopeful that soon we will also be operating the flights to carry other Pakistani nationals," HE KK Ahsan Wagan, Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman said.
Earlier, a notification from the Abu Dhabi embassy stated that United Arab Emirates has released nearly 400 Pakistani prisoners serving jail time for minor offences in light of the pandemic.
The prisoners are being repatriated through two special flights that are being arranged by the UAE government.
