(Karachi) Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that leaders in Sindh are spreading scare and negativity among the people instead of giving them hope in wake of the coronavirus situation.

Addressing a media briefing on Wednesday, Awan lashed out at provincial government’s measures to counter the coronavirus pandemic.

She added Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah should avoid issuing such statements and focus on providing relief to the public, especially the poor people in such a crisis.

The special assistant said that if Sindh government wants to implement a lockdown, it should go ahead with its plan but it should not leave people hungry.

She remarked, "A true leader gives hope to the public not scare them from death."

Firdous mentioned the provincial government should refrain from spreading disappointment, panic and fear among the people. "The Sindh government must fulfill its responsibilities regarding provision of relief to the people."

She highlighted that it is not a time to do politics but to make collective efforts to serve the masses. "We will overcome the virus with mutual coordination and support of the masses," she said.
