  • The body will discuss various plans during three meetings scheduled for next week with prestige club tournament is among top of the agenda.

Football’s governing body UEFA is considering staging a mini Champions League tournament in August, the Sun reported on Thursday.

The body will discuss various plans during three meetings scheduled for next week with prestige club tournament is among top of the agenda.

As per the UK’s media outlet, they are determined to complete both Champions League and Europa League tournaments, but it would be possible after domestic seasons.

With August window still available, the UEFA is considering to hold a mini tournament of both leagues with remaining games being played as one-off ties.

The body will also make the final decision on women’s Euros which was due to take place next year in England.

The body will start their week of meetings on Tuesday by talking to the 55 associations when they will discuss the progress for each country during the coronavirus crisis.

That is likely to decide the various plans of action and restart dates put forward by leagues including the Premier League - and proposals could then be rubber stamped by the ExCo the following day.

It is a clear sign of progress with UEFA insisting that all options and outcomes are up for discussion and that nothing is off the table but there is an acceptance that the domestic leagues will have to be completed before they can relaunch the Champions League.
