Prime Minister Imran Khan Wednesday issued directives to the Establishment Division for implementation of new rules for retirement of civil servants, and exercise laid under the rules must be completed within a month, so that the performance of civil servants could be reviewed.
A letter from the prime minister directed the Establishment Division for processing cases under Civil Servants (Directory Retirement from Services) Rules, 2020, which have been notified through the Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) dated April 13, 2020.
The rule 6 of the rules provides each department or office would maintain a list of civil servants who have completed requisite length of service under Section 13 of Civil Servants Act, 1973, and carry out a review of their performance.
The letter further directed that upon mandatory review, if requisite grounds of retirement are observed in the light of rule 5 of rules, such cases would then be referred by the cadre administrators to the respective retirement board or retirement committee as the case may be.
Since, the rules have now come in force, the prime minister directed that Establishment Division being custodian of the said rules, it should circulate necessary instructions to all ministries/divisions/departments/cadre administrators to proceed in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Servants (Directory Retirement from Service) Rules, 2020. Accordingly, the exercise required to be carried out by the cadre administrators, in terms of rule 6 of rules should be completed within a period of one month, positively.
