The Karachi Port handled 91,065 tonnes of cargo comprising 48,974 tonnes of import cargo and 42,091 tonnes of export cargo including 6,290 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 48,974 tonnes comprised of 34,666 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,414 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,034 tonnes of chemical and 2,860 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 42,091 tonnes comprised of 41,890 tonnes of containerised cargo; 201 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 6,290 containers comprising of 2,439 containers of import and 3,851 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 653 of 20's and 848 of 40's loaded while 24 of 20's and 33 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 914 of 20's and 989 of 40's loaded containers while 137 of 20's and 411 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Paris Express, Folegandros, Diyala and Al Shaffiah carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were two vessels viz. APL Gwangyang and Gloria Confidence carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely Botany Bay carrying containers expected to sail on Thursday.

There are four vessels viz. Cosco Africa, MOL Generosity, River Globe and Da Cai Yun carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday while four more vessels viz. MT Quetta, Oriental Freesia, Jhon M Carras and Orion carrying oil tankers, canola and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 213,663 tonnes comprising of 159,862 tonnes of import cargo and 53,801 tonnes of export cargo including 5,109 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 159,862 tonnes includes 41,915 tonnes of coal; 32,545 tonnes of mogas; 6,001 tonnes of palm oil; 15,000 tonnes of soyabean; 15,461 tonnes of chemical; 2,067 tonnes of general cargo and 46,873 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 53,801 tonnes includes 3,603 tonnes of rice and 50,198 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 5,109 containers comprising of 2,467 containers import and 2,642 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely MOL Generosity and MSC Tomoko carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely Da Cai Yun, Nordic Anne and Chang An-1 carrying general cargo, mogas and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean, chemical, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen vessels viz. CMA CGM Al-Maviva, Acadia Park, Tisntao Express, Flag Filia, Gant Muse, Glory Navigator, Seneca, Panorea, White Purl, Gas Arma, Celia, Gas Amazon, Kazak, Tomson Gas and Onaiza carrying containers, coal, soyabean, LPG and LNG respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Diyala, CMA CGM Al-Maviva, White Purl and Onaiza carrying containers, LPG and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There is one ship namely Tsingtao Express carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday while another ship namely APL Gwangyang carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
