Pakistan Stock Exchange Monday witnessed a mixed trend as the investors remained cautious due to their concerns over rising number of coronavirus patients in the country.

BRIndex100 closed at 3,417.62 points, up 3.86 points on 0.11 percent. BRIndex100 touched intraday high of 3,421.82 and intraday low of 3,395.99 points. Volumes stood at 172.309 million shares.

BRIndex30 lost 36.83 points or 0.21 percent to close at 17,756.83 points with total daily turnover of 141.475 million shares.

The KSE-100 Index gained 16.10 points or 0.05 percent and closed at 33,283.79 points. Daily trading volumes however improved to 198.248 million shares as compared to 88.018 million shares traded on previous session.

The foreign investors remained net sellers of shares worth $1.9 million. Total market capitalization declined by Rs 5 billion to Rs 6.300 trillion. Out of total 328 active scrips, 171 closed in positive and 128 in negative while the value of 29 stocks remained unchanged.

WorldCall Telecom was the volume leader with 62.427 million shares and gained Rs 0.22 to close at Rs 1.00 followed by TRG Pak that increased by Rs 1.29 to close at Rs 20.49 with 15.802 million shares. Indus Dyeing and Wyeth Pak were the top gainers increasing by Rs 46.01 and Rs 27.85 respectively to close at Rs 666.00 and Rs 837.85 while Unilever Foods and Bhanero Textile were the top losers declining by Rs 650.090 and Rs 49.99 respectively to close at Rs 9850.00 and Rs 760.01.

BR Automobile Assembler Index decreased by 23.76 points or 0.43 percent to close at 5,454.22 points with total daily turnover of 921,660 shares. BR Cement Index lost 25.08 points or 0.62 percent to close at 4,006.74 points with 11.739 million shares.

BR Commercial Banks Index closed at 6,647.06 points, down 4.87 points or 0.07 percent with 4.489 million shares. BR Power Generation and Distribution Index declined by 51.45 points or 1.16 percent to close at 4,401.94 points with 5.870 million shares.

BR Oil and Gas Index fell by 7.46 points or 0.21 percent to close at 3,480.47 points with 19.067 million shares.

BR Tech. & Comm. Index increased by 66.23 points or 6.93 percent to close at 1,022.59 points with 94.278 million shares.

Maaz Mulla at JS Global Capital said that the market remained volatile throughout the day, making an intraday high of plus 48 and an intraday low of minus 142 points, to finally close at 33,283, up 16 points.

This dull activity can be attributed to lack of triggers which drove the market sideways. Furthermore, major movers of the market were SEARL (up 6.3 percent), SNGP (up 6.8 percent), HUBC (down 1.9 percent), PPL (down 1.2 percent) and PSO (down 1.1 percent).

Investor's interest was witnessed in the Pharma sector where FEROZ (up 7.5 percent) closed at its upper circuit and SEARL (up 6.3 percent), AGP (4.3 percent) and GLAXO (up 6.6 percent) closed higher than their previous day close.
