Special message during Aaj News programme: President pays tribute to doctors, paramedics, security personnel

Guests on "Pur Azm Pakistan" urged the people to strictly follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to the coronavirus issued by the government to defeat the pandemic.

Guests on "Pur Azm Pakistan", a special segment of Aaj News hosted by famous artistes Reema and Farhan Ali Waris, also vowed to defeat the coronavirus with joint efforts.

Renowned journalists Haroon Rasheed and Mehmood Jan Babar and film producer Umair Nasir Ali participated in the program.

A special video message of the President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, was also broadcast during the special segment.

President Arif Alvi in his video message paid tribute to doctors, paramedical staff and security personnel for their efforts in the fight against the coronavirus.

The president also appreciated the role of the media in raising awareness about the coronavirus and urged the people to wear facemasks and keep social distancing.

The media's role in raising people's awareness about the coronavirus and protection protocols was also discussed by other participants in the programme during the Aaj News special segment.

Haroon Rasheed said that the coronavirus had affected every aspect of life. However, some unknown people had been spreading disinformation about the coronavirus and making claims of having discovered its cure.

"People should not pay any heed to such rumors," he said.

Mehmood Jan Babar said that the government slowly understood how to handle the coronavirus.

"I also started a coronavirus awareness campaign, and that was much beneficial in controlling the spread of the coronavirus," he added.

Babar said that implementation of the SOPs was the only way to defeat the coronavirus.

Umair Nasir Ali appreciated the role of the media and said that media had very actively created awareness among the people about the coronavirus.

He also called for awareness campaigns on the social media, saying that there was a need to inform the people about the positive aspects of self-isolation and social distancing.
