As many as 173 police personnel including officers in Sindh province have so far been tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19).
Sindh police spokesman said 22 new cases have been reported in the last four days. Five officers infected with coronavirus were martyred. The number of personnel undergoing treatment is 135. Some 32 officers and personnel have recovered and left for home.
Corona-affected personnel are being taken care of and steps are being taken on a daily basis, he said. Policemen serving as the frontline fighters against Covid-19 pandemic are extremely determined and highly motivated to serve humanity.
Keeping in view the welfare of the corona positive police personnel, IG Sindh has released an additional amount for each district and traffic police that will be utilised for the emergency assistance of corona positive patients and their families.
The police personnel are fighting at all times to enforce the government's measures to protect lives against the Covid-19 epidemic. Their lives are at risk. The provincial police are providing necessary precautionary items from the funds provided by the Sindh Government to ensure the safety of the personnel.
