Activities of Karachi Port
The Karachi Port handled 136,123 tonnes of cargo comprising 75,760 tonnes of import cargo and 60,363 tonnes of export cargo including 5,613 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 75,760 tonnes comprised of 35,010 tonnes of containerised cargo; 26 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,120 tonnes of canola; 8,704 tonnes of chemicals and 27,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 60,363 tonnes comprised of 38,094 tonnes of containerised cargo; 309 tonnes of bulk cargo and 21,960 tonnes of clinkers.
As many as 5,613 containers comprising of 2,418 containers of import and 3,195 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 788 of 20's and 761 of 40's loaded while 52 of 20's and 28 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,118 of 20's and 477 of 40's loaded containers while 751 of 20's and 186 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Hong Kong Express, KMTC Dubai, Torm Astrid, Marianne Danica and Mermaid Star carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. MSC Atlantic, CMA CGM Ivanhoe, MT Lahore, Jahan Brothers and Marianne Danica carrying containers, oil tanker, clinkers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely Wan Hai-611 carrying containers expected to sail on Thursday, while two more ships namely MT Lahore and Yan Dun Jiao-1 carrying oil tanker and clinkers respectively are expected to sail on Friday another containers carrier namely Ulanga is expected to sail on Saturday.
There are five vessels viz. MOL Gateway, Thorsky, Oriental Lotus, Sea Rider and Pantanal carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday while three more vessels viz. Nordspring, Botany Bay and Ginga Merlin carrying containers and chemical respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.
