There will be chaos if businesses are not allowed to reopen: Motiwala

Former president of the KCCI and patron of the SITE Association of Industry (SAI) Zubair Motiwala and President SAI Suleman Chawla have demanded of the federal and provincial governments to ease the lockdown, open all industrial and commercial activities and deploy troops to make the people follow the SOPs.
"We are foreseeing a chaotic situation in the country in the coming months if businesses continue to remain suspended," Motiwala said.
Fully endorsing the views of BMG leader Siraj Kassam Teli to deploy troops across the city to guide the people to follow the SOPs, they said that strict compliance of the SOPs was a must to continue businesses without risking lives of the people.
They said that the national economy had already suffered huge losses due to the lockdown.
Giving details about difficulties to run the industries, they said that there were two major factors. One was that the industries which had
been given permission to reopen were having a tough time as their production was dependent on supplies from vendors and number two was that supplies in the local market were almost exhausted.
In addition, due to such a long closure, many businessmen had spent their capital.
Referring to the increasing number of the coronavirus cases in the country, they said that it was mainly due to non-adherence to the SOPs by people from all walks of life.
"We understand that at this crucial time, the most important task is to ensure compliance of the SOPs, and this task must be given to the Pakistan Army which is well-known for its discipline around the world," they said.
