Covid-19 cases surpass 62,000 mark in country

Pakistan's Covid-19 cases have surpassed 62,000 mark following Sindh and Punjab collectively reported over 2,000 cases in the past 24 hours.

Pakistan's Covid-19 cases have surpassed 62,000 mark following Sindh and Punjab collectively reported over 2,000 cases in the past 24 hours.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) and the Covid-19 figures released by the provincial governments, the total confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan reached 62,689 with 1,283 deaths and 20,231 recovered.
With 62,689 cases, Pakistan has jumped from 19th to 18th position worldwide on account of total coronavirus cases, while USA is on top with 1.75 million cases and 102,556 deaths, followed by Brazil with 414,661 cases and 25,697 deaths.
Globally Russia is placed third with 379,051 Covid-19 cases and 4,142 deaths, Spain is ranked fourth 283,849 cases and 27,118 deaths, the United Kingdom with 269,127 corona cases and with 37,837 deaths is placed fifth, while India with 163,936 corona cases and 4,673 deaths is on 9th position worldwide.
Sindh's coronavirus cases have topped 25,000 after record 1,103 cases reported during the last 24 hours, according to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
Shah said that 4,101 tests were conducted, of which 1,103 came back positive, taking the province's total to 25,309.
He said that 16 more people died from the virus, taking the total fatalities to 396.
He added that 227 patients were in critical condition, while 39 were on ventilators.
The Sindh chief minister said that 1,924 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours and were sent back to their homes.
Data released by Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department has confirmed 919 new coronavirus cases in the province, taking the total to 22,037.
It has also reported 19 more deaths, taking the fatalities to 381.
According to the department, the number of recoveries has risen to 6,326, while a total of 217,726 tests have been conducted in the province so far.
According to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Health Department 359 new cases were reported (67 from international flights center) taking the total to 8,842.
Seven more lives were lost (two in Peshawar, and one each in Mardan, Swat, Malakand, Abbottabad and Kohat) taking the total to 432.
61 new patients recovered taking the tally to 2,693.
Active cases in the KP stands at 5,717, the department in a tweet said.
Islamabad has reported 136 new coronavirus cases, taking its tally over 2,015, according to the government's Covid-19 portal.
Gilgit-Baltistan reported 13 new cases, while Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) reported five new cases.
In Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) total 651 coronavirus cases are reported so far, while in AJK 219. Meanwhile, Islamabad and AJK also reported one death each.
