Anil Kapoor invited to opening ceremony of London Olympics

KARACHI: Bollywood star Anil Kapoor has been invited by famous Hollywood filmmaker Danny Boyle for the opening ceremony of London Olympics on July 27.

According to media sources, previously, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Bollywood Director Karan Johar were the only two personalities from India to be invited.

Sources said, "Apart from Danny, who has reportedly been appointed the artistic director of the Olympic Games opening ceremony, Anil has also been invited by steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal."

Kapoor confirmed that he will attend the big sporting event by saying, "Yes, I am attending the opening ceremony of the London Olympics this week."

Sources added that Kapoor who was shooting for his upcoming project “Shootout at Wadala” has now taken a few days off from the filming schedule in such ways that won’t obstruct the schedule of the ongoing shoot.

Kapoor has also made plans to meet Indian athletes participating in the Games, to enhance their confidence and spirit, added the source.
