KARACHI: Oscar Pistorius is a South African sprint runner who became the first double leg amputee ever to participate in the Olympic Games after entering into the men’s 4x400-meter relay final at the London Olympics last night.
He finished the crossing line at eight place but, ultimately, it was all about running in an Olympic final.
The 25-year-old athlete is better known as the “Blade Runner” and “the fastest man on no legs”.
“This whole experience was amazing to step out here in an Olympic final is more than I could have ever hoped for,” he said.
Although eligible to compete in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, Pistorius did not
qualify for the South African team.
Now, he can proudly add “Olympic finalist’ to his list of various records.
“That opportunity to come here once again and finish today and not yesterday is a dream come
true,” he added.
