KARACHI: Egyptian wrestlers had given up their matches on Sunday because they were unable to show up in time.
According to media sources, Abdou Omar Abdou Ahmed and Saleh Emera missed their 66kg first round match and 96kg match respectively because they were unaware of the latest schedule for games.
Wrestlers believed games to start at 1 p.m. as per routine, but because of the Closing Ceremony, the last three weight classes to be wrestled at freestyle were started at 8 30 a.m.
Speaking to media Egyptians said, "every day one-o'clock.", but it was too late because they were out.
Sources added that the schedule of Olympics has been out for months. It was the duty of every player, athlete and coach to have a look before appearing for the next game.
