KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah during his visit of Chicago (USA) held meetings with Governor of Illinois Pat Quinn and Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel at Chicago, United States.
The CM Sindh during meeting with Governor Pat Quinn, highlighted the need for more cooperation between province of Sindh and the state of Illinois by developing a sisterhood relationship for mutual cooperation for development in the fields of agriculture, energy, education and health.
According to a statement issued here on Wednesday, Syed Qaim Ali Shah informed the Governor that province of Sindh possess huge reserves of natural coal, that can be used for producing energy resources by technical assistance, and investment in this sector.
The other three sectors also have great potential for bilateral cooperation.
The Governor Pat Quinn warmly welcomed the CM Sindh and agreed the suggestions for the sisterhood relationship and cooperation between the State of Illinois and Province of Sindh.
He said that Illinois has modern technical skills for extraction and gasification of coal, and look forward for further discussion at technical level on all the four sectors for benefit of both the people.
The Governor also accepted invitation of the Chief Minister Sindh for a visit to Sindh.
During meeting with the Mayor of Chicago, the CM Sindh appreciated Rahm Emanuel for taking good care of the Pakistani community and their integration into the local society.
He also acknowledged the city of Chicago's decision to name of portion of Devon Avenue on Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel, thanked the CM Sindh for his visit to Chicago, and appreciated the meaningful contributions of the Pakistani immigrant to the United States, who are a valuable asset for Chicago.
He also underlined thousands of students from Pakistan, who chose Universities in Chicago for their education.
On the occasion the CM Sindh presented traditional gifts of Ajrak, Khais etc to Governor and Mayor, and other distinguished personalities.
Consul General of Pakistan in Chicago Zaheer Pervaiz Khan and notable Pakistani community members including Dr. Ghulam Murtaza Arain, Mubarak Mirjat, Dr.Tariq Butt and Tariq Malhance were also present in both the meeting.
