China aims for the moon, wants to grow vegetables on Mars

KARACHI: Chinese astronauts are planning to grow fresh vegetables on Mars after successful tests at preliminary stages by researchers as mentioned by the foreign media press.

Astronauts will have their own stocks of air, water and food. It will be a 300 cubic cabin which relies on plants and algae which will be used on the moon or on Mars. The authorities believe that astronauts will have access to oxygen and fresh food through the harvest on extra-terrestrial bases.

China is set to launch an exploratory craft on the moon next year and in future aiming for a manned moon landing a title held only by the Americans in 1972.

Chinese astronaut Yang Liwei has also shown interest in starting a branch of China’s Communist ruling party. The astronaut has orbited Earth in 2003. The Chinese have stepped up their efforts to make their mark in space.
