PESHAWAR: Advisor to KP CM on Information, Ajmal Khan Wazir has said that corona testing capacity that was merely 20 has now been increased to around 2200 to 2300 a day, adding that the number will be further enhanced soon.
Briefing media at the Media Cell of the Information Department here Monday, he said that corona cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are being reported as per guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO).
He said that complete statistics of all deaths whether they are corona or non-corona cases are being shared with the public with transparency and present the real picture. He said that the recovery rate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also higher than the rest of the provinces which is 31 percent.
The Advisor said that in just two months before the lockdown, more than 81,000 passengers from various Gulf countries had arrived at Bacha Khan International Airport. Similarly, through Taftan and Torkham borders, migrants have returned to their home countries that were kept in various quarantine centres.
He said that health system of developed countries had failed against corona, but our doctors and paramedical staff were fighting successfully against corona despite limited resources.
"We are proud of our doctors, paramedics' staff and all front liners of corona and the whole nation salutes them. Dr Aurangzeb and Dr Azam sacrificed their lives for the nation, the sacrifices of doctors and medical staff against corona will not be in vain," he added.
Ajmal Wazir said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was leading all the provinces against Covid-19 from the front line adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan was moving forward in consultation with all the provinces.
He said that fighting on front line against corona ministers and Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had contracted to Covid-19.
Regarding overseas Pakistanis, Ajmal Wazir said that the opposition should not worry about them as they are closest to the heart of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
