ISLAMABAD: Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan called on Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, and discussed with him arrangements for the National Assembly session starting June 5th to make the legislative process more effective.
The speaker briefed the Adviser on Parliamentary Affairs on the details of arrangements to be made for the National Assembly session to begin on June 5.
The National Assembly Secretariat has been directed to make effective arrangements in the Parliament House and Parliament Lodges for the session of the National Assembly starting from June 5 in view of the threat of coronavirus.
The speaker National Assembly said that Parliament was the representative body of the nation and the true spokesman of the people's aspirations.
He said that the main role of Parliament was to legislate. The government and the opposition needed to work together for effective legislation, Asad Qaiser said. He said that Parliament was playing its full role in controlling the coronavirus.
He said that all political forces needed to forget their differences and unite in difficult times. Babar Awan said that the present government believed in the supremacy of the constitution and the rule of law in the country.
He said that the government wanted to legislate as much as possible to provide relief to the people. He said that the role of Parliament was crucial in preventing the spread of coronavirus and taking care of the national economy.
