KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 70,493 tonnes of cargo comprising 57,633 tonnes of import cargo and 12,860 tonnes of export cargo including 4,491 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 57,633 tonnes comprised of 46,854 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,477 tonnes of canola and 6,302 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 12,860 tonnes comprised of 8,076 tonnes of containerised cargo; 400 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,384 tonnes of cement.

As many as 4,491 containers comprising of 3,691 containers of import and 800 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,012 of 20's and 1,148 of 40's loaded while 379 of 20's and 02 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 164 of 20's and 252 of 40's loaded containers while 08 of 20's and 62 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Rome Express, Botany Bay, Charlotte Schulte, GS Avenue and Mari Ugland carrying containers, chemical and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. Telemann, Greenwich Bridge, Cosco Japan, Bow Cardinal and NACC Poros carrying containers, chemical and cement respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely NACC Poros carrying cement expected to sail on Thursday, while another ship namely Telemann carrying containers is expected to sail on Friday.

There is one ship namely Szczecin Trader carrying containers is expected to sail on Saturday.

There are two vessels viz. MOL Grandeur and Smart Tina carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday while three more vessels viz. MSC Himanshi, Bulk Castor and Pisti carrying containers, cement and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 140,682 tonnes comprising of 81,625 tonnes of import cargo and 59,057 tonnes of export cargo including 3,456 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 81,625 tonnes includes 4,606 tonnes of LPG; 4,500 tonnes of palm oil; 40,000 tonnes of gasoline; 6,708 tonnes of LNG; 10,250 tonnes of soyabean and 15,561 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 59,057 tonnes includes 8,954 tonnes of cement and 50,103 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,456 containers comprising of 819 containers import and 2,637 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were six ships namely MOL Grandeur, APL New York, Maersk Chicago, Glory Harvest, Ejnan and Mars carrying containers, LPG, LNG and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely Gas Arma carrying LPG is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, gasoiline and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as ten vessels viz. Aristo Mens, Express Athens, Royal Fairness, Diamond Star, Daphne, Lito, Gas Zeus, Al-Yamamah, Hafnia Arctic and Hai Sheng carrying containers, coal, soyabean, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Aristo Mens, Diamond Star, Gas Zeus and Hai Sheng carrying containers, coal, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There was one ship namely Teleman carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday while another ship namely Cosco Japan carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
