ISLAMABAD: The Finance Ministry has decided to run the office with minimum staff performing important tasks due to growing cases of Covid-19, and instructed the employees over 50 years of age not to come to office, and work from home.

The Finance Ministry in latest circular issued on June 1 initially for another 15 days with partial modification of its earlier circulars dated March 20 and 31st, barred private visitors and public dealing in the ministry and instructed employees over 50 years of age not to come to office and work from home and remain available on call and video conference for all official matters.

The employees facing health issues such as flu, fever and cough and sneezing were also instructed to work from home.

The capital administration also announced on Friday that complete lockdown would be imposed Saturdays and Sundays in the wake of fast spread of coronavirus in the capital territory.

In the circular of the ministry, those female officers and officials who bring their children to daycare centre were also instructed not to attend office, and work from home and other female employees as well.

The circular further stated that private visitors and public dealing in offices are not allowed with immediate effect and any officer/official who intends to invite any guest/visitor to his office may do so with prior approval of the concerned additional secretary finance (AFS).

All official visitors would first be urged to discuss the matters/cases on telephone and would be allowed entry only if inevitable, the circular further stated.

The employees were told that arrangements have been made at the entrances of the office premises for checking the temperature of each officer/official entering the office.

This is to be followed strictly and no one shall consider himself exempted from it. The office premises would be sanitized regularly, said circular, and added that handshakes and social embracing would be avoided strictly, and social distancing may be observed at all levels.

Inter-office meetings or discussions would preferably be done through video conferences/Skype. Meetings, if convened at all, would ensure distance of at least two meters between seats.

As per circular, employees were instructed that prayers may be offered individually to avoid close contact. Hand wash and use of sanitizers must be ensured at regular intervals, while use of masks is mandatory especially in the corridors. Senior officers would lead by personal example and also ensure strict compliance by the staff.
