FAISALABAD: Over 300 shops, some shopping malls and restaurants in the district were sealed in a day for violating the SOPs put in place to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali while visiting the markets to ensure implementation of government directives.
SSP Syed Ali Raza, Pakistan Army officers, Assistant Commissioner of Sadar, Umar Maqbool, and others accompanied him on the inspection visit.
The deputy commissioner penalized many shopkeepers in Jhang and Karkhana bazaars for not keeping sanitizers at their shops while many others were disciplined for some other violation of the SOPs.
He asked the vendors there to allow only one customer into their shops at a time. He discouraged the people who had been roaming around in the markets. The deputy commissioner urged the people to stay at home in view of the growing threat of the coronavirus.
He asked the administrative officers to visit the markets regularly and seal the shops in case of any violation. Talking to media persons, the deputy commissioner said that the district administration was ensuring implementation of the anti-coronavirus measures in the markets, and so far 342 shops, six malls, 11 restaurants and 30 other types of shops had been sealed for violating the SOPs.
He said that the shops had been sealed for at least three days, and they would be allowed to do business only after considering their pledges on non-violation of the SOPs in the future.
