PESHAWAR: Prices of essential food commodities, including chicken meat, flour, pulses, vegetable, sugar and others have risen sharply here in the retail market, according to a survey conducted by Business Recorder on Sunday.
The survey noticed the price of live chicken/ meat has gone up at Rs 213-216 per kilogramme in the local market, while price of farm eggs increased as available at Rs 120-130 per dozen. Cow meat is being sold at Rs450-500 per kilogramme, where as mutton beef was available at Rs1000-1100 per kilogramme.
Fresh milk is being sold at Rs120-130 per litre against the official fixed price ofRs90 per litre, while yogurt was available at Rs130-140 per kilogramme against the official fixed price of Rs80 per kilogramme, the survey noticed.
An increase of Rs 200-250 per 20 kg flour bag and Rs 5,000 and Rs 5,500 per 80 kg flour sac was witnessed amid looming flour crisis due to ban on wheat supply from Punjab. Sugar is being sold at Rs80 per kilogramme.
A noticeable increase in prices of pulses/food grains was witnessed in the local market. According to the survey, the price of good quality rice (sela) has increased at Rs 160 per kilogramme against the price of Rs140 per kilogramme in the previous week. Tota rice is being sold at Rs 70-80 per kilogramme.
Price of red beans have gone up sharply as available at Rs 220-250 per kilogramme which was available at Rs 180 per kilogramme in the last week. Dal mash is being sold at Rs 260-270 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 240 per kilogramme.
Dal channa is being sold at Rs 160-170 per kilogramme, Dal chilka (green) was available at Rs 240-250 per kilogramme, while dal chilka (black) was being sold at Rs 270-280 per kilogramme in the retail market. Moonge dal is being sold at Rs200 per kilogramme and Malka Masoor was available at Rs 160 per kilogramme.
According to the survey, the prices of veggies remained sky-rocketed in the local market. Ginger is being sold at Rs 400-450 per kilogramme, garlic was available at Rs 300-320 per kilogramme. Capsicum is priced at Rs120 per kilogramme, while ladyfinger is being sold at Rs 120-130 per kilogramme.
Red potato is being sold at Rs 80 and Rs 100 per kilogramme while white-coloured potatoes are being available at Rs 50 per kilogramme. Cabbage was available atRs60 per kilogramme, cauliflower at Rs 50-60 per kilogramme. Bringle is being sold at Rs 80 per kilogramme. Green chilli is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogramme against the price of Rs150 per kilogramme in the previous week.
Apples are being sold at Rs 250-300 per kilogramme. Peach was available at Rs 150-200 per kilogramme, plum is being sold at Rs 150 per kilogramme, bananas are being available within range of Rs 100-120 and Rs 150 per dozen, mango is being sold at Rs 80-100 and Rs 120 per kilogramme. Melon is being sold at Rs 70-80 per kilogramme, watermelon was available at Rs 80-100 per kilogramme.
