COAS meets Afghan President Ghani in Kabul
- Bajwa's visit is being perceived in connection with the ongoing efforts seeking a solution to the United States war in Afghanistan
(Karachi) Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Kabul and met Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, media reported on Tuesday.
The army chief was accompanied by Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director-General Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed and Pakistan’s Special Envoy on Afghanistan Muhammad Sadiq.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest came under discussion as well as the overall regional security situation.

Besides, exchange of Afghan refugees and the Afghan reconciliation process were also discussed.
The visit by the COAS is being perceived in connection with the ongoing efforts seeking a solution to the United States war in Afghanistan.
This is the first visit to Kabul by a high-ranking Pakistani official since Ghani’s second term in office began. It comes ahead of the imminent intra-Afghan talks.
On June 7, US Special Representative for Afghan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad met General Qamar Javed Bajwa. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, overall regional security situation including Afghan refugees issue and Afghanistan border management were discussed. Both officials shared steps taken in this regard and agreed to continue working towards mutually agreed goals.
