ISLAMABAD: The federal government has expedited its process for approving the unapproved development projects by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) to include in the coming Budget 2020-2021, it has been learnt.

According to the sources, the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives is continuously holding the meetings of the CDWP for approving the unapproved projects of the current fiscal year to include in the next budget.

They said that for this purpose, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jahanzeb Khan is holding meetings of the CDWP continuously.

He held meetings of the CDWP on last Friday, Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday.

The sources said that Balochistan government strongly protested against the federal government for not including its development projects in coming budget 2020-2021.

They said even Balochistan government had boycotted the Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) in protest.

However, after it, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan met with the prime minister and expressed his reservation on the development projects. The sources said that the prime minister assured the chief minister to include the development projects of Balochistan in the coming budget.

According to a press released issued by the Ministry, the CDWP meeting on Tuesday chaired by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jahanzeb Khan approved seven projects worth Rs29.351 billion.

The CDWP also approved one concept clearance proposal worth Rs2.794 billion. While chairing the meeting, the DCPC said that the federal government had made a landmark achievement in Pakistan's planning history, where the PSDP would comprise all the approved projects.
